India A completed an easy seven-wicket win over South Africa A in the first unofficial Test – chasing down 48 on the final day – in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday (September 12).
South Africa folded for 186 after starting on 179 for 9 with Heinrich Klaasen top-scoring for them with 48.
India A were jolted early when Lungi Ngidi rattled the poles of Shubman Gill with just 10 on the board. Ankit Bawne and Srikar Bharat too were dismissed cheaply but Ricky Bhui and Shivam Dube took the team over the line inside ten overs.
Earlier in the game, Jalaj Saxena starred with the bat as his unbeaten 61 carried India to 303 and gave them a handy lead. He then picked up 2 for 22 in the second innings and played second fiddle to Shahbaz Nadeem, who ended with match figures of 5 for 58.
