Man Utd decide what will happen to Solskjaer if Liverpool win heavily | Football | Sport

Manchester United have made a poor start to their season and the pressure is building on boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

After eight Premier League games United has only managed to win two matches and currently find themselves sitting 12th in the table and are only two points above the relegation zone.

United, who have won the Premier League 13 times, are currently 15 points behind Liverpool, who are seeking to win their first this season.

However, according to The Times, Solskjaer’s job is safe even if they suffer a heavy defeat to Liverpool in the coming weeks.

United will host Liverpool at Old Trafford on October 20 and even an in form team might struggle to get a good result against Jurgen Klopp’s side at the moment.

Liverpool have maintained their 100 per-cent domestic record this season and they are also the only team in the Premier League who are still undefeated.

The Reds have also conceded the fewest amount of goals so far this season (six) and that feat is even more impressive considering their number one keeper Allison suffered an injury in the opening game of the season against Norwich.

United’s defensive record has improved this season, as at the moment they only concede on average one goal a game, but the lack of goals being scored is becoming a concern to fans and Solskjaer.

The club made the decision to sell Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan for £74million this summer after month of talks with the Italian side.

However, due to the Belgian being sold late in the window, United were unable to find a suitable replacement striker.

And while Solskjaer recently admitted Lukaku’s “time was up”, other players in United’s squad have yet to step up and score the goals he contributed to the team.

During his two-years with the club Lukaku found the back of the net 42 times in 96 games in all competitions for the Red Devils.

Last season United’s top goal scorer in the league was Paul Pogba with 13 goals, this was followed up by Lukaku on 12, with both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford on 10.

Of those players Solskajer has been without Pogba for seven matches, after he suffering an ankle injury, and a hamstring injury has sidelined Martial for eight games.

Lukaku is no longer at the club and Rashford has scored only one goal in his last nine games.

As a result the club are willing to keep on supporting Solskjaer as he tries to navigate the club through this difficult period.
