Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prioritises ONE transfer deal for summer window | Football | Sport

United had only the tenth most-effective backline in the Premier League this season, with 51 goals shipped in 38 games.

Solskjaer is expected to launch a move for a centre-back this summer, with an array of high-profile options on his radar.

Express Sport understands Kalidou Koulibaly, Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld and Raphael Varane have been eyed by United.

However, it’s not just a dominant central figure Manchester United are looking for with the transfer window now open.

The Daily Star report United boss Solskjaer is keen to recruit a new right-back before the start of next season.

With captain Antonio Valencia leaving Old Trafford, the Norwegian has Ashley Young, 33, and Diogo Dalot, 20, at his disposal.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might be eager to snare an experienced player, aged somewhere between the veteran and the youngster.

Kieran Trippier is thought to be on United’s shortlist of options, despite enduring a tough season at Tottenham.

The 28-year-old grew up in the Greater Manchester area and is a United fan, even though he came through the ranks at rivals Manchester City.

Youcef Atal could be considered too thanks to his all-action performances with Nice in Ligue 1.

Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich have been credited with interest in the 23-year-old too.

And they may have the edge on United, with both teams able to offer Champions League football for next season.

Despite being just a year older than Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka might be considered by United.

The Crystal Palace full-back has forged a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top defensive prospects.

Wan-Bissaka played in all but three of the Eagles’ top-flight fixtures as they finished 12th.

And Palace could be temped to sell the 21-year-old if Ed Woodward is prepared to throw plenty of money at a deal.
