Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has revealed why he is confident in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Solskjaer is already under pressure at Old Trafford following an indifferent start to the Premier League season.
Manchester United have won just two of their opening five games and travel to West Ham on Sunday (2pm).
De Gea penned a new contract during the week, tying him to the Red Devils until at least June 2023.
And the Spaniard has no doubts in the ability of Solskjaer as a manager.
“He’s been here at the club for many years and he knows the club really well, he knows the ins and outs of the club, how it works and the people here as well,” De Gea told Sky Sports.
“He’s a great person and a great guy, and the main thing is that the players, the squad are right behind him.
“We share his desire to do well and we want to win things with him.
“I think he proved what a good manager he is last season. He came here, we were on a bad run, we then had that great run of lots of victories on the spin.
“I think we feel good within his presence. He’s a confident guy, he exudes self-confidence and we can see that. Our target is to continue improving and to win things with Ole.”
The praise isn’t all one way with Solskjaer revealing the impact his goalkeeper has in the dressing room.
Solskjaer said: “David is delighted, I think you could see the focus in his eyes again vs Leicester.
“It gives everyone in front of him a boost because you feel secure with him behind and he’s really worked hard this season.
“I think we will see more of him putting him on a path to build him up. I’m sure he will be part of success at United.”
