Luis Suarez could make an unlikely return from injury when Barcelona continue the defence of their La Liga title at home to Celta Vigo tonight.
The Uruguayan was originally believed to be sidelined for up to three weeks after picking up a knock in the defeat to Levante last weekend.
However, under-fire coach Ernesto Valverde has rushed Suarez back and included the 32-year-old in his matchday squad – although the striker is not expected to start against Celta Vigo.
Antoine Griezmann should lead the line in Suarez’s absence, although he will need to improve his understanding with Barca talisman Lionel Messi after a dour 0-0 draw with Slavia Prague in midweek.
The Frenchman has scored nine goals against Celta already in his career and will hope for a few more as he looks to prove himself at the Nou Camp.
Messi will continue in his free role from off the right flank while Ansu Fati could replace Ousmane Dembele on the opposite wing after the latter’s frustrating showing against Slavia.
Arthur is also expected to return to central midfield in place of Arturo Vidal, with the Brazilian joining Frenkie de Jong and Sergio Busquets in Valverde’s preferred midfield.
Jordi Alba is sidelined with a hamstring injury, having been withdrawn at half-time on Tuesday, so Junior Firpo could replace the Spaniard at left-back.
Alternatively, Valverde could once again move Nelson Semedo over from right-back to deputise with Sergi Roberto coming into the back four.
Samuel Umtiti is included in the matchday squad but remains behind centre-backs Clement Lenglet and Gerard Pique in the pecking order.
Finally, Marc-Andre ter Stegen will continue between the posts while Carles Alena, Jean-Clair Todibo and Carles Perez are all ruled out.
Celta Vigo will be without Kevin Vazquez, Juan Hernandez, Claudio Beauvue, Santi Mina and Rafinha for new manager Oscar Garcia’s first match in charge.
