Arsenal star Dani Ceballos defends Unai Emery over criticism | Football | Sport

Arsenal play-maker Dani Ceballos has spoken out about both Unai Emery and Gunners fans as he enjoys his time in north London.

Ceballos joined on a season-long loan from Real Madrid in the summer and he has impressed in his midfield role.

The 23-year-old is currently on international duty with Spain, and has taken time out to discuss his situation at Arsenal.

Ceballos reserved special praise for his manager, and revealed why he has so much respect for the former Sevilla and PSG boss.

“I arrived on the first day and the respect they have for him is tremendous, he has turned around the club’s situation in just one year,” Ceballos told Radio Marca.

“He has managed to compete and only just missed out on the Champions League, he almost won the Europa League.

“We’ve started well, just one defeat, third in the league and we are going up.”

Ceballos also mentioned his delighted when he heard fans calling his name on his debut, and how they did they same for another Spaniard.

He added: “It’s strange, I arrived and in my first game they were already singing my name.

“I asked Hector Bellerin and he told me that they also sang it to [Santi] Cazorla.

“I’ve felt proud from that first moment.”

Arsenal supporters were left worried on Thursday morning when Spanish outlet AS claimed that Ceballos had to have a scan for an injury.

The reported added that the MRI scan took place on Tuesday for a hamstring overload, but he is expected to make a speedy recovery.

The good news is that Ceballos is no longer a doubt for Arsenal’s clash against Sheffield United on October 21, as he focuses on Spain’s test against Norway on Saturday.
